Ponds can serve many purposes, from providing a place to fish and enjoy the outdoors to adding beauty and value to a property. Whether it’s building a new pond or improving one that’s been around for years, there’s quite a bit of work that goes into making it what you want it to be.
Ritter Construction has been digging and dredging ponds for more than 20 years. Building a new pond takes planning, the right equipment, and attention to detail to shape the ground and create something that fits the property. For existing ponds, years of accumulated dirt, silt, and sediment can gradually reduce water depth and take away from their appearance and usefulness. Dredging helps remove that buildup and give an older pond a fresh start.
No two pond projects are exactly alike. The terrain, size, water conditions, and the landowner’s plans all play a part in determining the work involved. Whether starting with an open piece of ground or working to bring an existing pond back to life, each project comes with its own challenges and rewards.
Take a look at this bird’s-eye view of a recent project. This drone footage captures the initial groundwork for a new pond just south of Highway 34. There’s still more work to be done, but it’s exciting to see the project start to take shape. Stay tuned – we’ll be sharing an “after” video once the pond is complete!
